Paul Asel, Partner, brings more than 20 years of global investment experience to Nokia Growth Partners. During his investment career, his realized investments have yielded over $1 billion value for investors. He has also been an advisor for acquisitions and IPOs representing over $7 billion in transaction value. Previously, he managed the technology investment practice in south Asia for the International Finance Corporation. Prior to IFC, Paul was a General Partner at Telos Venture Partners, an early stage venture firm in Silicon Valley, and a Senior Vice President at Delta Capital, an international private equity firm. He has over ten years on-the-ground experience in China, India, Russia, Europe and Latin America. Paul began his career with Merrill Lynch in corporate finance and mergers and acquisitions. He received a Masters in Business Administration from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and a Bachelor of Arts from Dartmouth College. He is co-author of Upward Bound: Lessons of How Nine Leaders Achieved their Summits. Paul is based in Asia. |

John Gardner, Partner, has led and managed investments in companies across the information technology spectrum, including enterprise software, carrier software, systems and component companies. John comes to Nokia Growth Partners from BlueRun Ventures, where he was one of the founding partners. Prior to that, John held a senior business development role at Nokia and has over 20 years of experience advising and working with start-up and emerging businesses, including extensive transactional experience in mergers, acquisitions and venture capital investments. John holds an MBA from the University of Chicago and a law degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Law. John is based in Menlo Park, California. |

Bo Ilsoe, Partner, brings more than two decades of experience to Nokia Growth Partners from venture capital, investment management, fundraising, organizational and strategic development as well as sales and marketing. Having lived and worked in the UK, Italy, France, Switzerland, Finland, Spain and Singapore he always comes with a global view to business. Bo began his career in the telecom infrastructure business with Alcatel and Nokia where he launched some of the first GSM networks in the world,negotiated numerous GSM supply contracts in Europe and South East Asia and he also ran a global product business unit. In 2002 he joined Vertex Management, a global technology venture investment firm, in London, where he managed several investments with successful M&A transactions generating in excess of $300 million. Bo has also started 2 companies and raised money for an investment fund focused on Eastern Europe. Bo graduated with honors with a Masters in Electronics Engineering from Aalborg University, Denmark. Bo is based in Europe. |

Upal Basu, Venture Partner, brings more 18 years of technology and telecom experience both as an entrepreneur and strategy consultant. As Founder and CEO of Mformation Technologies, Upal helped establish the company as the leading Mobile Device Management software provider. Prior to mFormation, he was a strategic management consultant for McKinsey & Company in New York and London where he advised clients on major acquisitions, new market entry strategies, and the creation of new businesses. Prior to joining McKinsey, Upal led Product Management activities for Risk Management Solutions (RMS), a leading provider of software technologies for the management of insurance risks. Upal has an MBA from Harvard Business School, an MS in Engineering from Stanford University, and a Bachelor's degree in Engineering from Imperial College, London. Upal is based in India. |

Weihan Liu, Venture Partner, brings10 years of operating and consulting experience to Nokia Growth Partners. Prior to Nokia, Weihan led advanced innovation projects at Microsoft's China R&D Advanced Technology Center Incubation Labs center focused on Windows Mobile technologies. Prior to his role in China, Weihan was the Product Manager for Windows Mobile leading key feature areas of the product roadmap and collaborative work with carriers and handset manufacturers. Previously, Weihan was a strategic consultant with the Boston Consulting Group, where he led global strategy projects for several international clients. Weihan has an MBA from The University of Chicago, Booth School of Business, and a BBA & BSc in Business Computing from Monash University, Australia. Weihan is based in China. |

Marc Theeuwes, Venture Partner,, brings over 18 years of experience in management, engineering, and business development working with Fortune 500 and private corporations such as Nokia, Sony (Gracenote), LifeChart, OmniCell, Johnson & Johnson, and Syntex. His past responsibilities have included VP Corporate Development, Director of Operations / Engineering, and Director Mobile Products. Marc is also a Stanford University Consulting Associate Professor in Mechanical Engineering and is the founding professor of Stanford's ME233 course "Make It Big, Crossing The Entrepreneur's Gap." At Stanford he was awarded the California Microwave Award in Electrical Engineering and the AIM Fellowship from the School of Engineering and Business. He holds a Masters of Science in Engineering from Stanford, an MBA in Finance from Santa Clara University, a BS and BA from UC Davis, and an AS in Computer Science.
